Installation: it is fixed at the highest point of the vessel (usually the main mast). The tip of the lightning rod must be higher than any other element, including the VHF antenna.
The lightning protection action consists in intercepting the electrical discharge and diverting it towards the sea without damaging the hull, the crew and, if possible, the electronics: the lightning rod carries out the ‘grounding’ via a descent cable (not included).
